guilt-free shopping on gilt

it turns out getting accustomed to west coast time isn't as difficult as i thought it would be.
especially if you have a reason to pay attention
to the time difference.
and by that, i mean watching the clock to make sure i was on time for the pieces by lee kleinhelter for gilt home sale today!
(via brilliant chic)
it started at noon east coast time, so you best believe i was sitting in front of my laptop, coffee in hand, ready to click away at the fabulousness at 9am.

if you aren't familiar with lee's work
(which begs the question, WHY?! must remedy. stat.)
here are just a few of my favorite spaces she's designed:
 (via hgtv)
(via cottage living. RIP. possibly my fave issue EVER bc of this very feature!)
(via lonny)

(via myverticalbuckhead)

isn't she fabulous?
i had the pleasure of meeting lee
(along with the adorable jonathan adler, ahem)
at her totally chic home decor boutique last year,
at a party for j'adler himself.
i went with my sisterwife, jenny, of mfamb fame.
more on her very soon.
prepare yourselves.
this is just a peek at what happens when jenny and i attend a party together.
we look fabulous. take pictures of ourselves in the car.
and everywhere else, too.
sing and have a dance party en route.
(via mfamb)
jenny makes sweet, sweet love to any plants nearby.
 (via mfamb)
quite possibly the worst picture of me ever? nah. i'm sure there are worse out there. but still.
(i was still working off some baby weight, ok?)
cocktail in hand. photobooth in action.
jenny in pants.
 (via mfamb)
lee's adorable dog, ryder, often found in the office
at the store. SO sweet.
(via mfamb)
...and yours truly. in all my blonde glory.
yup. i'm a blonde underneath the brunette, folks.
i like to switch it up.
and rock a fupa, apparently.
(update: the fupa is gone. mostly.)

anyway, back to the lesson at hand:
the gilt sale is on now, and by the time you read this,
there are probs quite a few items sold out,
(boo! don't you hate when you go to buy something and see the dreaded "in other members carts" tag?! argh!)
but if i had an unlimited budget
and lee had unlimited quantity,
here's what i'd scoop up today:
(all images via gilt home)

for the entry.
for the dining table. on the patio.
for my desk.
probs for the entry. or by the porch door.
or anywhere. these guys are TOO cute.
entry hallway. this is delicious.
ooooh. two in a sitting area? one tucked in a nook?
in the master? a bunch for dining room?
anywhere.
this thing slays me. entryway? hallway? anyway?
for one of the bedrooms. would want to put it in birdie's room once she gets a big girl bed, but i'd probably be selfish and
put them in the master.
birdie's room. or on a console table in dining or entry area.
this coffee table is dooooooope.

this is so gorgeous, i may have to get two.
over the dining room table, or seating area a la lee?
and there she is. the dream table of all dream tables.
entry. hallway. dining. master as desk. whatever.
i need this in my life. like now.
love these in a pair in our sunroom.
ahhhhh! i want it all!

oh man. this guy is so good. he can give in my master sitting area, or in the sunroom. or anywhere he likes.

so.
when i win the big california lotto,
i'll be making all this happen.

until then, i'm working with jenny & her incredible craigslist-whispering-skills to find some similar items on my budget.
you should, too.
she's very affordable, and trust me when i tell you, that girl's GOOD.

if you should find yourself in need of some fab new pieces for your pad, hit up the
its on until sunday night.

song of the south

i'm all weepy.
about a week until the move and i've started saying my goodbyes.
its bittersweet; everyone goes through it.
i've done it before, but that was molly bc, before children.

atlanta, and all that is the south,
is all my girls have ever known.
which is one of the many reasons i'm thrilled to have the opportunity to live on the west coast.
but its also why it makes me sad.

will they remember what it sounds like to walk into the varsity, then order a "red dog walkin'"?
(via accessatlanta)
and ps that is not a red dog walkin. that looks like heavy dog all the way, a chili steak, some strings & a ring one on the side, and God willing, that's a V.O.)

will they remember what the honeysuckle smells like in the spring? (if the pollen count isn't infinity?)
(via pinterest)
will they recall the skyline from piedmont park as the sun sets?
(via flickr)
will they look back with a smile on attending a southern tailgate at UGA (even if daddy is a gator), or even really know what its like in the SEC on any given sunday?
(via google)
i imagine this is what my future tailgates will look like...
(via tommyhilfiger)
(fabulous. but i'm the young one with the basset hound,
not candice bergen. k?)

will they grow up with an affinity for all things sweet tea, grits, peaches, pecan pie and coca cola?
(via pinterest)
(via pinterest)
(via saltwatergrille)
(via google)
probably. because of who their parents are... but still.

i love dixie.
(via etsy)
she's evolved a lot since my childhood,
and still has work to do.
(via theexaminer)
(via georgiadailynews)

(via projectqatlanta)
(via wrightandleftreport)

but i'm going to miss her.
(via buyoilpaintings)
mostly though, its the people.
they say it takes a village to raise a child
"they" couldn't be more right.
(except about the whole "men with big feet" thing. they aren't always right.)
we have been blessed with an amazing village; a group of family and friends who have supported us, helped us, grown with us, shared with us, given of their time and resources, and loved us fiercely and generously.
we couldn't be more grateful.
(via flickr)
i hope my girls retain the plucky grace that so many southern women have; the strength and beauty which allow us to simultaneously seduce with just a look, while in a dress made from (metaphorical) window treatments; their ability to charm the seersucker pants off of a man, while also having the knowledge and drive to exceed his business aspirations; their knowledge of which peachtree road to take (there are 71) as well as their grandmother's biscuits and gravy recipe.
(via google)
i yearn for my girls to see the world, to grow and experience and learn learn learn all that is out there... i just hope they will always remain steel magnolias at heart. i know i will.
(via etsy)
time to finish packing and get excited about all that california has to offer.
there may be no big pig jig...yet.
but just maybe i can at least find some decent bbq.
and i mean southern bbq, not some dump in koreatown.

will they mock my subtle southern accent?
think i'm a stalker when i bring the neighbors cherry pie?
have no idea what i'm talking about when i ask where the nearest chick-fil-a is?

frankly, my dear, i don't give a damn.

ps. that giveaway i mentioned, plus my first up in a new series of interviews with incredible women at the top of their game, coming soon!

drybar

i audibly squealed this morning when i read a tweet from my fabulous inside scooper buddy @WhatNowAtlanta...
(and then i vom'd in my mouth for writing squeal.)

drybar is coming to town!
you know that feeling you get when you leave the salon,
feeling all fresh and new?
drybar will give you that experience for a fraction of
the normal price.

prepare yourselves, my well tressed southern friends.
according to the What Now Atlanta website,
the chic boutique salon recently filed permits for construction on its soon-to-be-fabulous 1,500 sq ft west paces ferry
location in the buckhead village.
*eeek!*

but what is it, you ask?
"no cuts. no color. just blowouts, for $35."

the brainchild of pr/blow dry maven alli webb, the biz was born after alli's referral-only, in-home blowout service, ahem, blew up, and she took things to the next level.

a dream team of professionals was assembled to create this genius concept combining some of our girly favorite pastimes:
a gorgeous blowout, impeccable customer service, and cocktails.

yes please.
(honestly, WHY didn't I think of this?!)

take a look at their clean, cool aesthetic:

i spy kerastase... good job, kids; they know their product!
upon arrival, you can choose from a bevvy of blowout styles, and a variety of add-ons:
i'll take a cosmo with a floater and some bubbly on the side, please!

imagine it: having your locks expertly tailored during your next girls' night out, sipping champ' while dissecting
the f/w '11 collections?
(petticoats, paillettes, tripartite, oh my!)

better yet, hosting a fun event at drybar:
a bach party/wedding day's jumping off point, the junior league ball committee's latest planning sesh, some real atlanta housewives getting some much-needed time away from les bebes, or even the sweet sixteen celebration of westminster's latest deb;
yes yes yes.
the team at drybar takes care of the cocktails and blowouts, you bring the party.
done.

check out the rundown, as told by alli herself:

too many handcrafted cocktails at holeman & finch last night?
the thought of having to do your hair for today's bridal shower making you want to chunder everywah?
drybar nourishes both your hair and your hangover; blowouts on saturdays and sundays from 10-2, complete with complimentary croissants and bagels.
and coffee. lots of coffee.

drybar even offers a bartab system; you can purchase an allotment of blowouts at a discounted rate, or better yet (for addicts like i'm sure to become) join their monthly program for 2 or 4 blowouts per/month, & get discounts and special offers
(like free head & neck massages!).

with eight locations currently operating mostly on the west coast, drybar is crossing over to the ec with shops to open in nyc, washington dc and of course atlanta soon.

becoming a barfly never looked better.

call it bespoke cheveux.
and i can't wait to geaux.
