lately, lily

when you were little, did you pretend you were traveling all over the world, having adventures, seeing all kinds of amazing things, and meeting many different kinds of wonderful new friends?

i sure did.

well it seems lucky lily gets to live this dream...
and we get to live vicariously through her.
(and her seriously talented folks!)

i have a serious design crush going on...

their website is insanely creative, colorful, and fun.
it chronicles lily's adventures around the globe with her best friend zeborah & her "sunny yellow suitcase" in tow.

(i can't wait 'til the girls are around to show them!)

best of all, they've created adorable cotton tees featuring art inspired by their travels that you can purchase on the site!
they're made right here in sunny soCal.
now your little dreamer can rock a super-soft, adorable tee that doesn't have the stereotypical princess or other
character-y types on it... ewww.
(i'm not a fan. just sayin'.)

there are more on the site.
i can't choose a favorite.

lily, welcome to our world...
or should we welcome ourselves to yours?!
looking forward to sharing more adventures with you soon!

what is that, velvet?

nope, its felt!
i stumbled across this link over at sea of shoes this morning
and had to share.

this etsy seller knocks it out of the park with these adorable,
handcrafted bags.
they're made in russia and they are awesome!

perfect gift for that hard-to-shop-for someone (of any age), no?
they run from $90--$180, average $130.
good deal for such unique, hand-crafted goodness, yes? yes.
so rad.
happy gifting!

gifts for girls, affordable version

so i've been thinking
(not to mention shopping)
about gifts for girls, and thought i'd share
some of my finds with you.

when putting together a gift, i really like to get a couple of things, if possible, and kind of tie the items together
--as much as it pains me to use this term--around a theme.
kids gifts
i'd wrap the book & shoes either together or stacked, & have the clip on the outside of the package. better yet, put them all into a bag she can re-use (a backpack? tote bag?)
kids gifts

super cute, right?
i'm kind of in love with suejean rim, and birdie's big girl shoes has been a favorite of my birdie's for over a year now.
can't wait to read her latest, birdie's big girl dress!

food for thought.
what are you gifting the little ones in your life this holiday?
more gift ideas--for boys, too!--later today.

*ps. apparently i'm experiencing some technical difficulties in the polyvore department. make that operator error difficulties. once i have more than five minutes to fix it, i'll get right on that. :)

pinbinge wednesday!

happy wednesday, y'all!

i've decided to make an attempt to have a regular rotating schedule with my posts... starting now!

its the middle of the week; what better time to serve up some serious eye candy and delicious inspiration,
courtesy of pinterest?!

(if you don't know, you MUST go. like now. then come back.)
(via)
i pin almost everyday; i pin independently as i peruse the internets, and i pin from my "friends" who also pin and
share their finds on the site.
oh, and there's the addictive app! for pinning on the go!

so without further ado, i give you, my favorite pins of the week!
luxuriously laid back... i want this in mon maison en france.

"the most perfect nude lip ever?"
(i'll let you know.)
office inspiration... i need a clean, stylish,
somewhat minimal space.
obsessed with just about everything in this photo. that lamp is DUMB--I adore its golden, shiny, raw stoney aesthetic; juxtaposed against the rusty, chippy beauty of the bed, the natural, linear beauty of the stump side table... i DIG it.
i saw snow-capped mountains last week and about fell out.
i need to go skiing this year.
this is in canada, but reminds me of bachelor gulch.
aspen dreams...sigh...

i adore pom poms. maybe its the cheerleader in me, who knows.
and um, is that a stuffed pony on her necklace?! dying!
bunny would adore this. she's been asking me to do some crafting for mommy quality time this week...
think i just found our project!
serenity now!
this living rooms kills it. that black wall,
and still so much warmth. love.
make this my shoe closet, fairy godperson? please? like now?!
my fabulously talented girlfriend nicole over at sketch42 got me hooked on this crewcuts jeweled collar. i'm convinced i can make it myself... we'll see.
dying to find a tuxedo to wear to holiday cocktail parties...
ideally one that doesn't make me look ridiculous.
superfab emily schuman of cupcakes and cashmere whipped up this little storage system for her sunnies... completely brill in my opinion! i need to make this happen, toute suite!

precious, no? if only i could sew for real.
cause in my opinion, sewing a straight  seam for curtains ain't exactly sewing a dress. perhaps i just need more practice.
 my everything.
rachel zoe, spring 2012. collection.
could she be more chic? (short answer: nope.)
i love a custom paint job.
in my mind i can do this myself...
though i fear it may wind up looking a hot mess.
when we move into the "hopefully forever" house (still looking),
i just may have to give this a go.
we have a rather nondescript bookcase built into our (rental) kitchen... its been challenging trying to make it work.
seems to me this beauty is a little bit bar, a little bit library, a little bit curated treasure trove, a whole lotta fabulous.
the hair and maquillage from louis vuitton's spring 2012 show is blowing my mind right now. LOVE it all.
'scuse me, i'm headed out to buy lashes in bulk.
rz's insanely good dining room. really love it.
i imagine myself and my new la friends looking just like this.
yup.
my ultimate dining room table. the oval, marble-topped saarinen.
this bright, colorful room makes me happy!
methinks yellow window tx's may have to happen. soon.
i don't have many opportunities to wear my hunter wellies, but with gorgeous leggings like these and an oversized knit, i think i'd have reason enough.
starting to make my lists for holiday gifts...
slightly blasphemous in my world as thanksgiving hasn't happened yet, but i'm determined to get at least my christmas gifts across the country on time this year.

hope you enjoyed my finds...
follow me on pinterest for more!

winter weekend getaway

fabulous friends invite you up to the chalet
for a holiday weekend getaway?
you mustn't arrive empty-handed.
a rustic, re-usable enviro-friendly satchel,
packed to the rim with luxurious trim.
flowers, wine, treats of all kinds;
good for two-legged friends and four.
a fancy game night in, by firelight's glow, is much more luxe when cuddled up with an hermes throw.
some cozy slippers for him and for her and some sunflowers to brighten le chateau, will ensure this invite will happen again, and back to the slopes you'll soon go!

girls night out tote

girls night out?
as we discussed in the previous post, a good hostess gift can make all the difference.
i like to come prepared.
new years eve, bachelor/ette parties, birthdays;
any of these events warrant a survival tote of this nature.
a bag full of "meds" of many kinds; always stands out amongst the bottles of booze everyone brings to the party.
once you've enjoyed too much bottle service,
this bag o tricks will cure what ails you.

trust me, your guest of honor will appreciate it!

*a stylish tote she can re-use later containing advil liquigels, a hot water bottle, pepto, coconut water--its more gentle and hydrating than gatorade, trust me--voss sparkling water, revive eye cream, a cozy wrap and eye mask, bagels & cream cheese--the only thing i want to eat when i've over-imbibed--my favorite coffee, light reading material and some classic, girly movies. all perfect accompaniments for a recovery day in bed.*

papa, can you hear me?

...cause i come bearing gifts!
ideas, that is.
(via condenaststore)
stuck on what to get daddy for the big day?
here are some fabulous last minute
(overnight shipping, much?!)
items any papa would be proud to preach... about.

a dilf paperweight! if you have to ask what a dilf is, you don't need to buy this gift.
(via napastyle via dailycandy)
for the guy who grills--and for those of us who can only afford to buy him a different version of the same gift we gave at age nine--give these red oak planks a go.

 for the daddy-o with a sense of humor;
i adore these glossy canisters.
add a dash of style to his bathroom or closet, while also saying "i'm ok with your occasional pot-smoking because i do it too".

(via jonathanadler again.)
this says "thanks for being the open-minded sort of father who disapproves of me regardless of my sexual orientation."
and would also look killer on my couch.

(via forage)
i love a bowtie...
just make sure if you get one,
its for a daddy with somewhat substantial sartorial chops
the aim is more humphrey bogart,
less barney fife.

(via etsy)
nothing says "happy fathers day to a dad with a boyfriend much hotter than mine"
better than a stylish murse.
wouldn't you agree?
(via amazon)

for the eco-chic dad; a hand-carved wooden keyboard & mouse. cool!

what do you say we forgo the expected, every day, run-of-the-mill "slippers" gift, and give him one of these pairs instead?

stubbs and wootton, one of the best-known and most well-respected handcrafters of european slippers, has some fun, tongue-in-cheek designs. just the way to say "daddy, i'm still not above competing for your love."

or, you can go on their website, navigate your way into bespoke territory, & have papa's monogram embroidered in 18-karat gold wire,
if you like.

so you're down for the luxury,
but desire a gift with more...balls?
(via thatsenuff)
why not take dear old dad to the world series? luxury accommodations, behind the scenes tours, meet and greets, autographed souvenirs are yours for the taking. go here for more.

(image via pinterest)
every father could use a good stiff drink.
especially if he fathered you.
most likely he gave you your first sip o' the sauce, so the least you can do is
return the favor.

whether he prefers classic tuneage
(with a twist),
or a more modern approach,
dad will appreciate a new listening method.
and these are awesome options.
they also somehow say "you're the best weekend dad ever; thanks for living your hairband dreams" without saying a word.

if you're someone with an unlimited budget, here's my ultimate gift suggestion:
that, my friends, is a 1956 jaguar xk140 roadster. she's a beaut', eh? the price is unlisted so you know it ain't peanuts.
its my dream car. (ahem, one of them.)

or better still, go for the "bargain" buy at around $47k and get one that's been a little less loved...
...and fix her up together.
she could be glorious.

alright, so we aren't all made of money
--like dad always said--
so why not give him a piece of the roadster dream at a fraction of the sticker:
(via yup, you guessed it, jonathanadler)

and if all else fails, cook him a burger, crack open a cold one, and spend an afternoon
talking to your father.
time is a very precious thing, and we never know how much we'll have.
happy father's day!
